Sal started his career in banking at JPMorgan Chase for 10 years with projects ranging from investigations to compliance. He then moved on to being a member of the NYPD and held the rank of 2nd-grade Detective assigned to the Elite Emergency Services Unit.

Sal retired in November 2010 from the NYPD and the day he retired, he went into the restaurant business. He owned Sal's Ristorante (sold 6/23) and Bantry Bay Publick House (sold 2019).
